No trip to the Aberdeenshire coast would be complete without a visit to the lighthouse at Rattray Head. Getting there is not without its challenges; the approach road is so pot-holed that even an SUV struggles. However, a short(ish) walk brings you through some dunes to finally reveal the lighthouse, which is usually isolated from land by the sea - I have never seen it any other way. On each of my visits here, another constant is the wind, and this day was no different, with it blowing quite a 'hoolie'.
The wind and tide had washed an old, discarded creel onto the shoreline, which I was able to use. The natural complementing colours of sky, sea, and sand made for a pleasing image of this unique lighthouse.
