I had never been to the East Coast before, and to be honest, I wasn't expecting much. After driving the West Coast in the Spring, I wasn't sure anything could be better than that. I was only going to work, but I had some time to pass on the weekends, so of course, I brought my camera just in case. It turns out that Massachusetts and New England have gems of their own. I ended up spending a whole weekend watching sunsets at lighthouses, and not just any lighthouses, but lighthouses decorated for the holiday season. It made me want a lighthouse of my own to decorate. The holidays are a special time, and being able to capture the small traditions of such historic places was really an incredible experience.
The race to beat the setting sun to Nauset Lighthouse was almost lost with a few wrong turns, but eventually, I made it and was amazed to see the light on. All of the other lighthouses I've seen have been out of service as far as I can remember. This spectacular lighthouse has a rotating light of white and red. The red light matches the brilliant red of the upper half of the lighthouse. It was really amazing to see, all while the sky turned purple and orange behind it. The amount of history I was able to capture along the East Coast was just incredible. This was a big lesson learned to me - don't underestimate the East Coast. Next time, I'll be bringing more of my equipment!
