In mid-December, during a snowshoe trek at St-Donat-de-Montcalm in Quebec, Canada, I was hoping to discover a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape from the mountain's summit. At the end of the trail, I found exactly what I was looking for. I was captivated by the blanket of snow covering the trees in the foreground and the mountains in the background.
The large clouds created an interesting frame for the photograph. Despite the freezing temperatures, the air was crystal clear. I had brought the camera equipment that I usually take on this type of hike for its portability, and to avoid changing lenses in the cold: a 24 to 200 mm lens.
