My wife has family in England, and we have visited there four times now. Our second-to-last trip was in 1995, but she wanted to go again in 2019, which we did from late April to early May. During our previous trips, we explored places from London to Wales to Scotland. This time, she wanted to see the south coast. I planned several nice locations to fill a week and a half after spending some time in London.
A few days after London, we arrived in Corfe, which is just a short distance inland from the ocean, to visit the castle and some local sights. After exploring the castle, we drove a little way to Studland and then hiked about a mile to see the Old Harry Rocks, an area known for its sea stacks and cliffs. This day was mainly for scouting, as I wanted to determine how I might photograph the area at sunrise.
The next morning, I got up early and headed back to the Rocks, this time carrying my photography gear. There were very few clouds that day, which meant there wouldn't be much color in the sky. I waited for the sun to rise and did capture the sunrise, but soon realized that a more captivating scene that morning was to the west. The early sun cast a warm, pleasant light on the cliffs and sea stacks, and as a bonus, the calm sea created a lovely reflection as well.
