Here in Michigan, we have brutal winters. About a week before I took this photo, an arctic blast came down from Canada, bringing us bitter cold. For two days, the high temperature was 9 degrees Fahrenheit, and the low was below 0.
This, of course, caused a rapid freeze along the shores of Lake Michigan. After the weather had settled, I drove out to check out the frozen waters around the Grand Haven Lighthouse. To my surprise, there were broken clouds, and sunlight was peeking through.
I set up my tripod and waited (with freezing toes) for the sunlight to cast its glow upon the lighthouse at the end of the pier.
