A Stretch Of Mughal Road, Shopian, JK, India

I had set out that day to photograph the mountains—the road, the rise of the slopes, and the way it all opened up as I moved through it. The Mughal Road winds its way steadily upward, almost like a line guiding your eye from the ground into the high mountains beyond.

What held me there that day was the light. A narrow slice of sunlight had found its way through the clouds and settled briefly on the mountainside, while the rest of the landscape stayed muted under a shifting sky.

I wasn’t trying to construct a frame, but rather to capture the moment. So I just watched, waited, and let the scene come together as it was—the road, the clouds, the light, all falling into place for a brief moment.
