The Kyle of Lochalsh is located in the Western Highlands of Scotland. It is a coastal location close to the Isle of Skye, a planned stopping point on a longer trip to the Isle of Skye and the Orkney Islands.
Accommodation on Skye was limited, so I chose a hotel near the Skye bridge. This viewpoint was in the hotel's rear garden. On the second evening of my stay, the weather became changeable. In the late afternoon, a break in the clouds revealed crepuscular rays from the sun, which reflected beautifully on the near foreground and the still water of the Kyle.
Scottish weather is renowned for its variability, with the possibility of having 4 seasons in a day. I have always found May and September as the most favourable months to visit but I would recommend carrying a face protection net to guard against the prodigious midges
