In November 2008, my wife and I spent three weeks in Vietnam. During our visit, we had a driver and a qualified guide. The day I took this shot, we were in Ha Long Bay. The Hạ Long Bay has an area of around 600 square miles and contains 1,969 islets, most of which are limestone.
We boarded a traditional junk, shared with other people, for a cruise. Late in the day during the cruise, I was amazed to see the numerous junks cruising this channel. The swells on the water created by our cruising junk and the rocky shoreline led to the mountain in the background.
I was impressed by the number of junk and the beautiful shapes and colors of the sea stacks in the bay.
I used my rangefinder camera to capture this gorgeous and unusual highway.
The same day, I spotted a sea stack garden.
Vietnam is a wonderful country to visit and to photograph.
