Iceland is a stunning destination, especially for landscape photographers. The island captivates with its wild and beautiful nature, providing endless opportunities to capture breathtaking landscapes in every season. Take, for example, Eystrahorn. Within a short walking distance, it offers a diverse range of compositions, including a rocky beach, small creeks, and reflections—it's a photographer's paradise.
Eystrahorn is about an hour's drive from the more famous Vestrahorn, and in my opinion, it is just as beautiful, to say the least.
My only complaint is the unpredictable winter weather. When planning a photography trip to Iceland, it's essential to allow for flexibility and be prepared for any possibility, including days when shooting is not feasible. We visited in February, and our first few days felt more like autumn due to heavy rain that kept us in the hotel all day. Fortunately, we had another chance the following day. Although the morning began with a gloomy grey sky that was disappointing, in Iceland, a little patience can dramatically change the scene.
About half an hour after sunrise, the sky transformed completely, offering us a perfect morning for photography. The image we captured is a panorama made from six vertical photos to encompass the entire width of a small pond. You can even see the remnants of light snow that had fallen just moments earlier.
That night, true winter arrived, transforming the landscape into a beautiful snowy scene for the remainder of our trip. I truly miss Iceland.
