The Currituck Beach Lighthouse, situated in the heart of Corolla, borders the historic Whalehead in Historic Corolla and continues to guide passing mariners. Standing at an impressive 162 feet tall, the Currituck Lighthouse's design clearly distinguishes it from other lighthouses in the North Carolina Outer Banks, as it remains unpainted and showcases its remarkable one million brick construction.
Every lighthouse features a unique light pattern to assist mariners in identifying their location and, of course, in avoiding getting too close to the shore. The Currituck Beach Lighthouse operates on a 20-second flash cycle, illuminating for 3 seconds and remaining off for 17 seconds.
