Despite its abundant beauty, after two months of solid, overcast skies, the Icelandic winter had started to weigh on me. I would wake up predawn every day, hoping for some colour, hoping for some sun, instead of being greeted with the same grey gradient.
That is until this glorious morning at a glacial lagoon on its southern shore when the sun finally broke through the bleak winter skies and illuminated the entire world in the most vibrant hues of pink and red I'd ever seen, made all the more dramatic when contrasted against the brilliant blue of a passing iceberg.
This is to say, don't let the weather get you down. Patience pays off, and the sun will always show itself eventually!
