After weeks of heavy rain and the wettest May on record, it was refreshing to experience a dry spell with low winds. I captured this image on a perfect spring morning, where bright patches of clouds softened the light beautifully.
Over the past few years, I have focused more on exploring areas close to home rather than traveling to iconic locations. Given the unfortunate events happening around the world, I found myself enjoying my photography much more. Being forced to stay in my local area due to travel restrictions actually improved my photography skills more quickly, in my opinion. I no longer crave long-distance photography trips; instead, I get the greatest thrill from creating images just 30 minutes from home or work.
I believe there is more potential in this image if I have better conditions to work with. Fortunately, since it's so close to home, I can revisit this location weekly, if not daily.
I titled this piece "Connections" primarily because of the beautiful branches that intertwine in the top half of the image. I also noticed the lovely connections between the bluebells and bramble. Although the bottom of the image appears divided into two sections, I appreciate how the bluebells are spread slightly to the right and the bramble to the left, creating another subtle connection.
For the foreseeable future, my focus will be on woodland photography as I continue to connect with my local area.
