Watch carefully the tree on the following publication. It states the importance of scouting, planning and receptivity to nature signals (fine clouds).
One afternoon in March 2025, again, the sky was full of white, fine clouds. It was a clear, natural signal that I had to go back to my local sunset paradise. I chose the Coulee Grou park area.
I arrived at the park 45 minutes before sunset. After a 10-minute walk, I reached the river shoreline. I installed my tripod, camera with my magic Leica DG lens and a 6-stop ND filter, and cable release.
When I saw the sun through the trees, I composed and framed the image using a 16 mm focal length and set the aperture to F22. That setting creates a beautiful star effect. Look at the following.
With the ND filter, small aperture, and low ISO (200), I planned to perform a long exposure to smooth the wind ripples on the water and to accentuate the clouds' texture and direction.
I used the live-time feature on my Olympus m4/3 camera to perform a perfect exposure (ETTR). It took 122 seconds. During that period, I was amazed to see the developing image on my camera’s back screen.
Once again, planning and gear familiarity are fundamental photographic elements. Look at this image captured at the same park.
