The Half-Born Light, Bieszczady Mountains, Poland

I took this photo in the Bieszczady Mountains, Poland. It had rained heavily the day before, so the valleys were filled with thick mist that morning. The mist kept the rising sun from being too intense, preventing it from being overexposed and giving it a delicate reddish-pink hue.

Just after sunrise, the sun began to hide behind a cloud above. It looked very unusual, as if the rising sun were upside down.
