I was inspired by a large, backlit photo hanging in a nearby Mexican restaurant. It was a picture from the sixties of the San Diego skyline, hanging on the entry wall. I tried many times to recreate my own version of that image but never really found the perfect spot.
On certain days, from the waterline at Point Loma, you could see the sun very brightly reflecting off all of the buildings. This was a special day where most of the buildings were lit up. At a certain point, the light was so bright on some of the buildings that you couldn’t look at them. This image was at the peak of my camera’s exposure limits at the time. The skyline today has many other buildings, but I felt this was the best year (9/23/2007 at 6:34 PM).
