Road To Autumn Beauty, Baie St Paul Region, Quebec, Canada

In mid-October 2024, I was scouting on a rural road in the marvelous Charlevoix region when I saw the scene: the colors, the forms, and the distant mountains covered by massive clouds. I was amazed by the scene. I stopped the car and parked safely on the side of the road.

Handheld, I framed the scene at 42mm. To ensure a perfect exposure, I deliberately overexposed the image by only 1/3 of a stop using the ETTR technique.

For me, lines in photography guide the viewer’s gaze, create depth, and evoke emotion in the image. The emotion for me was the fact that I was spending a full week in this autumn paradise.

For the composition, I included the road and the fences on each side of the road to guide the eye toward the distant autumn beauty.

Looking at this scene reminds me of the beauty of autumn.
