I spent the night camping on the ridge of the Parang Mountains, hoping for good conditions at sunrise. When I woke up in the morning, everything was covered in fog, and there seemed to be little potential for photography. Still, I decided to continue along the ridge and gain more elevation, hoping that the conditions might change.
The higher I climbed, the more the fog began to dissipate. Eventually, near one of the peaks, I emerged above a sea of clouds. As the sun came up, the entire valley below was bathed in warm light.
What made the morning particularly special was the unusual clarity of the atmosphere. From the ridge, I could see layer after layer of mountains and valleys stretching across the Southern Carpathians, from Parang all the way to the Fagaraș Mountains. Many of these distant landscapes are rarely visible with such clarity.
The photograph is a reminder that sometimes the conditions that seem unpromising at first are worth pursuing.
