Lone African Tree, Kwazulu Natal, South Africa

Taken on safari in South Africa, while the main objective was to photograph wildlife, the landscape was at times extremely attractive. This was at the end of the day when we had been photographing a family of cheetah. The light had almost gone, but on the horizon was a lone tree perfectly silhouetted against the setting sun, which was already below the horizon.

I thought the graduation of color in the image was pretty special. I’m not sure any of the group saw the possibility or took the shot, but it was one I had to capture before we got into the vehicle.
