I took this photo during a winter trip to Bryce Canyon, Utah, this past March. While my main goal was to witness the park’s winter beauty and its famous hoodoos, I also kept a close eye on the surroundings—especially the ponderosa pines.
I was lucky enough to arrive shortly after a snowstorm. As a landscape photographer, seeing the hoodoos covered in snow is pure joy, but I also loved the contrast between the white snow and the deep brown bark of the trees. The symmetry of the trunks, combined with a light wind that generated a “snow fog,” brought a sense of magic to the final image.
This became one of my favorite photos from the trip. Looking at it, I can still feel the biting cold of that morning, but I also remember just how beautiful the scenery and light were.
