We were on our way from Leh, a city at an elevation of 10,000 feet, to Pangong Lake at the China border. The mountainous road twists and turns on its way to the lake, which is about 160 kilometres away and sits at an elevation of 15,000 feet, continually gaining altitude. We must have ascended by about 1,000 feet from the town when I got out of the car and captured this stunning view. The snow-capped mountain in the far background is part of the Himalayas.
