Along the Ogliastra coast in southeastern Sardinia, old watchtowers—built to guard against Saracen raids—still dot the landscape today. One of these is the Torre di Barì; it sits on a beautiful sandy beach, yet features a rocky formation that makes for compelling photographs from this vantage point. The long exposure used to capture the sea in this image conveys the sense of peace I felt while watching the sun rise over the horizon.
