After a trip to the Utah Badlands for a slot canyon photography workshop, I spent my last evening at Goblin Valley State Park.
I currently live in Oregon and have visited the Three Sisters—a trio of volcanic peaks in the central Cascades—so I was curious to see the rock formations in Goblin Valley that share the same name.
When I arrived, I noticed a patch of grass and some nice sand ripples in the foreground, which worked well for the composition. I set up my camera before sunset and waited for the light to drop.
As the sun got lower, it lit up the hoodoos and the surrounding sand, bringing out strong contrast and texture. This was the moment I was waiting for!
