This image shows a large maple tree with bright red leaves in autumn, photographed backlit with the sun’s rays coming through the branches.
The maple leaf is the official emblem and the most recognizable symbol of Canada.
When I saw this amazing red tree at sunset under a blue sky, I felt obliged to capture the scene.
Handheld, I took my camera with my gorgeous Leica DG lens, which produces beautiful star effects when set to a very small aperture (f/22).
I worried about the scene’s dynamic range. I didn’t hesitate to set my camera to bracket three shots with two-stop increments between each exposure to capture the scene’s huge dynamic range.
