This photograph perfectly encapsulates my approach to landscape photography, a no-nonsense pursuit of authenticity, free from gimmicks and driven by a deep connection to a particular location.
Captured in the lesser-known reaches of the eastern Dolomites, it reflects my growing desire to move away from iconic, over-photographed locations and instead celebrate areas of outstanding beauty closer to home.
The vibrant rhododendrons in the foreground, the turquoise alpine lake, and the dramatic, cloud-covered peaks embody the quiet magnificence that can be found when we take the time to look slowly and carefully at the world around us.
I always practice slow photography, taking the time to truly connect with the landscape, waiting for the right light, and composing with intention. For this image, I hiked to the lake and wild camped for the absolutely fantastic night. I used a tripod and a polarising filter for a slightly longer exposure.
