Deep in the freezing winter of Hokkaido, Japan, I embarked on a journey with one clear mission: to capture the elusive “Snow Fairy”—the Shimaenaga (Long-tailed Tit).
After days of fruitless searching in the bitter cold, fate finally brought us together. My hands were completely numb from the freezing temperatures, but my eyes never left this tiny, fast-moving creature. I pursued it relentlessly through the snow until, for just a split second, it perched on a slender branch and looked up toward the sky. That was the exact moment I pressed the shutter.
The sheer joy of finally capturing this elusive snow fairy left me so thrilled that I couldn’t sleep a wink that night. This photograph serves as a reminder of why I fell in love with photography, and it remains one of my cherished pieces.
