Old pilings from a long-gone pier emerge from the surface like fragments of a vanished structure, arranged along an irregular perspective that draws the eye toward the horizon.
I chose a very long exposure time to almost completely eliminate the movement of the water, transforming it into a suspended, featureless surface.
The pilings, by contrast, remain motionless and tangible—the only elements capable of breaking that continuity.
In the distance, the mountains appear merely hinted at, almost swallowed by the haze.
It is precisely this contrast between the distinct and the vanishing that drew me in: a sequence of vertical lines traversing a near-empty space, seeking a destination that perhaps does not exist.
The photograph thus emerges from the intersection of time, water, and absence—where the landscape is defined not by what it reveals but by what it leaves to the imagination.
