The mallard is the most widespread of the wild duck species. Males generally outnumber females.

Anas platyrhynchos spends most of the day on the water, coming onto land only to nest or rest. Its favorite habitats are therefore those with calm bodies of water—marshes, ponds, lakes, and rivers like this area of Racconigi, a protected oasis. I like photographing animals in total peace.
