I took this photograph at the Portland Japanese Garden in Oregon in November 2025. While exploring the Garden, I noticed a single brown leaf resting against the vibrant green moss covering a tree trunk. I was drawn to the contrast between the two colors and how such a simple scene could represent the changing seasons.
As a landscape photographer, I enjoy capturing intimate scenes and small details that we might otherwise overlook, and this photograph is a good example of that approach.
On a more personal note, this photograph is currently on display as part of my photography exhibition at the Portland Japanese Garden.
