From the peaks of Gran Canaria, on certain days, one can see the imposing silhouette of the Teide volcano on the neighboring island of Tenerife.

From this vantage point, one can view striking geological formations—such as Roque Nublo, Roque Bentayga, and Montaña de Altavista—that stand as remnants of the Canary Islands’ volcanic past.

The image shows an alignment of Roque Bentayga and Montaña de Altavista in Gran Canaria with the Teide volcano in Tenerife. To complete the composition, a quintessential element of the local landscape was included in the foreground: the Canary Island pine (*Pinus canariensis*), a species endemic to the islands that forms the dominant vegetation in these areas.

This photo was taken at my favorite spot on the island—a place offering unforgettable sunsets and breathtaking scenery that shifts daily with the weather—while also capturing the essence of Canarian identity by showcasing so many elements of the archipelago’s natural heritage.
