Ice Sunrise, Lake Superior, Duluth, Minnesota, USA

A frigid morning sunrise followed a few days of below-zero temperatures that had turned the edge of Lake Superior into sheets of ice. Overnight winds broke up some of the ice sheets, and they stacked up on the shore. I was out photographing on the subzero morning to capture the ice stacks, as it had been a few years since we had a really good ice pile-up.
