Since moving to Ladysmith, here on the southeast coast of Vancouver Island, I’ve spent many mornings strolling around our very picturesque, seaside town, capturing all the wildlife that enchants me during the different seasons. And autumn, with its glowing palette of amber and russet, is one of my favorite times of year to head to Transfer Beach Park, where feral European rabbits have created extensive underground burrows and can frequently be seen foraging under cover in wild hedges lining the park.
I created this portrait shot one late morning in September when this shy rabbit peered at me for about a minute and then gave me a few seconds to catch him in profile with his ears aglow.
