Flying over the glacial outwash plains near Höfn in southeast Iceland, I was fascinated by the intricate network of braided rivers below. From the air, the channels create natural leading lines that weave through the dark volcanic landscape and draw the eye toward the distant glaciers and mountains.
I composed the panorama to emphasize the contrast between the pale glacial water and black sediment, turning the landscape into an almost abstract pattern.
