Never before have I seen a large mountain such as this in close quarters. Tiger Hill Lookout (8,500 ft.), located 6.8 miles from Darjeeling town, offers great panoramic views of Mt. Kanchenjunga (28,209 ft.), the third largest peak in the world. The peak itself is 12 miles as the crow flies from the lookout point.

At sunrise, the peaks are illuminated by the first light well before it ever gets to the lower elevations. Beyond the edge of the steep lookout cliff, there is nothing but an abyss in front of you. In fact, there is a perimeter barricade to prevent people from falling over the cliff. On a clear day, one can expect a large crowd at this location.
