The San Juan Mountains of Colorado come alive in autumn, when brilliant golden aspens spill down the mountainsides beneath towering, rugged peaks. The contrast of glowing yellow leaves, deep evergreen forests, and dramatic mountain scenery is simply breathtaking.
As a photographer, I find myself drawn not only to the grand mountain vistas but also to the smaller details—the way sunlight filters through the aspens, the layers of color stretching across the hillsides, and the quiet beauty of a winding mountain road. Around every bend is something new to discover, and often the unexpected scenes become my favorites.
What I love most about photographing places like this is the sense of discovery. No matter how much time I spend exploring, nature always has something unexpected to offer. The photographs bring home the beauty, but it’s those quiet moments of simply being there, surrounded by it all, that stay with me long after the journey ends.
