I have seen many pictures of the Scottish Highlands and was curious to visit them someday. It happens that my mentor, who inspired me in landscape photography, lives in the most beautiful region in the Highlands, Glencoe! I took the opportunity to go for a short visit. It was during the winter, and it rained for the few days that I was there. The shots were very challenging to achieve. Luckily, my mentor guided me to the location and helped me to wipe the lens. I only had a split second to press the shutter before raindrops settled onto the lens. All the cleaning cloths that I had got wet quickly. But with the help, I was able to achieve a few decent shots.

The Lagangarbh Cottage is quietly sitting in the middle of the rain and storm, embracing the atmosphere with contentment. I love the impression that this scene presented. This is the iconic look of the Scottish Highlands, as it is well known for its rainy and gloomy skies. The white cottage stands out among the surrounding mountains. With the panoramic shot, it also gives a sense of scale to the towering mountains. I’m very happy to have achieved this shot on my first visit. Thanks to my mentor and helper!
