While traveling a winding mountain logging road through the Oregon Coast Range in search of a youth camp from my teenage years, I pulled over to capture this fleeting moment when the early morning sun pierced the dense forest canopy. The brilliant sunburst cuts through the starkly silhouetted tree trunks, illuminating delicate strands of hanging moss and casting a golden glow across the dew-laden ferns on the forest floor.

This powerful visual contrast instantly triggered a wave of nostalgia, as the rich scent of the damp fir trees carried me back to childhood days spent playing hide-and-seek in these very woods.
