Eastern Hardwoods Waterfall, New River Gorge National Park, USA

Having grown up and lived all my life in the western U.S., being amongst the eastern hardwoods in fall is an amazing sight. West Virginia is an amazingly beautiful state and is ripe with photo opportunities.

For this image, I wanted to get down at water level, looking back at the waterfall and have the late afternoon warm glow in the trees. Using a long exposure to capture the movement of the water brings the scene to life. I also loved the yellow and orange leaves dotting the rocks, adding a nice bit of colour and texture to the scene.
