Desert Road, Arava Desert, Israel

The biggest story behind this photo is that it was taken in the Arava Desert, where my wife and I went to escape for three days from the missiles during the last Iranian-Israeli war.

It seems the Arava has nothing worthwhile to shoot. What was worthwhile to the camera’s eye, however, was the snaking Arava road. Seen from a height, it served as a centering piece for the photo.

For those interested in geography, the land hidden under the haze in the background is Jordan, which borders Israel along the Arava.
