At nearly 3,900 m above sea level, Arabel Plateau is one of my favorite locations in Kyrgyzstan, regardless of the season, but it is certainly not an easy place to reach. The long mountain road, high altitude, unpredictable weather, relentless winds, and cold that can feel extreme even in summer make every visit an adventure.
This photograph was taken in late September, when autumn had already begun to transform the landscape. Golden grasses along the lakeshore contrast with the deep blue water, dark rocks, and distant snow-covered mountains. The wind and altitude sickness were as challenging as ever, but there is always something irresistible about this place.
Its untouched atmosphere, immense open spaces, and the constant presence of mountain winds make me want to return again and again.
For me, landscape photography is not only about capturing beautiful light or perfect conditions. It is also about the places that stay with you, the experiences you carry home, and the landscapes that continue to call you back. No matter how cold, windy, or difficult the journey may be, I would always be ready to travel there again with my camera.
