Whenever we drive up the Trans-Canada Highway to Nanaimo from Ladysmith here on the southeast coast of Vancouver Island, I always look over to this majestic maple — beloved by us local photographers — standing alone in the wide field where cattle from the farm across the way often graze.
It is a spectacular sight, especially in autumn when a silvery veil of mist drifts over the dewy grass and the leaves glow in amber tones in the morning light.
