I had been to this beach many times before, but on this particular evening, I was treated to one of the most beautiful sunsets I had ever seen there. Though I was the only one there with a tripod, many others were capturing the moment with their phones.
I was barefoot in the surf and sand and was drawn to the leading lines created by the waves coming in and out of the scene. This photo is especially meaningful to me because four months after this was taken, the south shore of Kauai would be devastated by Hurricane Lowell, and I don’t know if this beach will look the same again.
