Carved by the meandering Colorado River, the landscape of Castle Valley, Utah begs the artist, outdoor enthusiast, and geologist to play, wonder, and explore. Often overlooked by National Park seekers, this largely isolated corridor offers natural gifts and the serenity that allows one to fully embrace it.
On this particular trip, late summer wildfire smoke veiled the landforms and dulled the normally vibrant colors. Usually this is as disappointing as it is unsavory to breathe, but in moments like this, with the sun setting against an ominous landscape, the road ahead provided a natural invitation to explore with my eyes and my tires that rolled through it after I set this shot up.
