I had been watching the coastline, waiting for the right combination of light, color, and atmosphere to come together. Arriving before sunrise, I gave myself time to settle into the scene and watch as the first hints of morning unfolded across the Atlantic.
Captured in that fleeting window of light, Wavelength is a reflection on the quiet poetry of the Outer Banks—a place shaped by ocean, wind, and the enduring presence of the wild horses that have wandered these shores for centuries. The image preserves a brief encounter between light, sea, and sky, inviting the viewer to experience the calm beauty and timeless character of this remarkable coastline. Technical: Captured with a Canon R6 body paired with the Canon EF 16–35mm f/2.8L USM lens at 1/4 second, f/16, ISO 100, bracketing exposures to preserve detail across the highlights and shadows. Post-processed in Adobe Photoshop using the TK9 Luminosity Masking Panel to refine tonal balance, enhance natural contrast, and preserve the subtle range of light and color present in the scene.
