On perfectly clear days, without clouds, mist, or fog, sunset is a spectacle that fascinates and attracts us with that enormous red solar disc, as if it were on fire… Not long ago, on a particularly hot day with a clear sky and atmosphere, I watched the sun setting behind the great Atlantic Ocean.
The black wet rocks glistened as they reflected the light. The camera, mounted on a tripod and fitted with an ND filter, was set for a long exposure in order to fluidify the seawater and soften the perspective. The use of a small lens aperture allowed for a large depth of field. Only when I looked closely at the images did I realize that there was a seagull calmly perched on a rock a few dozen meters away. Was it also admiring the show?
