From the walls of Pienza, the landscape of Val d’Orcia unfolds beneath the fading evening light. Rolling fields, cypress-lined roads, and scattered farmhouses reflect centuries of coexistence between people and the Tuscan countryside, with some structures dating back to the 14th century.
Arriving in Pienza during the afternoon, shifting weather brought dense clouds over the valley just before sunset. Brief bands of light moved across the hills, revealing changing tones and textures within the landscape. Captured using a long exposure, the image preserves the movement of the dramatic clouds while retaining the quiet stillness of the land below. Experiencing the Tuscan landscape in such changing light for the first time was quietly surreal.
