We went to Madikwe Game Reserve to celebrate my future brother-in-law’s impending marriage. However, I had a mission within the mission: the chance to photograph wild animals. Madikwe Game Reserve, which is in South Africa on the Botswana border, had the attraction at the time this photo was taken of being less crowded and malaria-free. The zebra in the photo seemed to know my intentions and appears to have posed for me. I loved the directness of the photo and the detail.
