Just traveling through the area, with many more miles to drive that day, I decided to do a quick morning shoot in the foothills above town. I had been here many times before and thought I would be shooting from the road. Without giving it much thought, I put on flip-flops for the day.
Arriving at my destination before sunrise, I noticed there were patches of blooming prickly pear cactuses scattered amongst the sage. Thinking that the yellow flowers would add a pop of color to the foreground, I carefully tiptoed my way into the danger zone and waited for the sun to light the Beaverhead Mountains (Bitterroot Range).
I like how this turned out, and I learned to give a little more thought to my footwear choices.
