Sedona has become one of my absolute favorite places to go for hiking and photography, and every time I get the chance to go, I always try to visit the Secret Slick Rock Trail, which is basically a mesa above a valley with Cathedral Rock across it. Anytime it rains, there are usually 4–5 water puddles on the mesa, and they give amazing reflections of the Cathedral Rock twin butte formation.
On this trip, we arrived at Secret Slick Rock close to sunset. There were only a few very small puddles of water, and a little water in one of the “main” puddle spots. While initially a little disappointed that there wasn’t more water for a full-on reflection of Cathedral Rock, I grew to appreciate the different reflection the smaller puddle gave of only the top of one of the butte peaks.
