When I first saw the church, bathed in the golden light of the setting sun, I was struck by how it seemed to sit within a sea of brilliant yellow – a field of rapeseed in full bloom. I knew instantly that I wanted to capture the vivid contrast of the rapeseed yellow against the surrounding greens, with the church standing as a historic anchor.
However, the flat landscape of the county of Norfolk, where I was visiting, presented a challenge. To achieve the perspective I envisioned, I turned to my drone, carefully manoeuvring it to gain the necessary height and perspective. My efforts were rewarded. As the drone ascended, I discovered wonderful, shapely and detailed shadows cast by the ancient trees around the 16th-century St. Peter’s Church, Kimberley.
