My friends and I took an eleven-day trip through the southwestern USA to tour and photograph various national, state, and Navajo parks. The Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park was a must-see, and it certainly did not disappoint.

Touring this park involves driving on a ring road that winds through the valley. The road is unpaved and quite uneven in some areas. Even at the 15 mph speed limit, we were bounced around quite a bit. There are a couple of steep sections that require a four-wheel drive to navigate through the loose sand.

This shot captures a scraggly tree in the foreground, with West Mitten Butte in the background. Other buttes and mesas are visible in the background. The buttes in this park rise approximately 1,000 feet.
